Glenn and Jane Crosby Northwest Region Award
for Excellence in High School Teaching
Award nominations are now open!
The High School Teaching Award owes its standing within ACS, particularly as a Regional award, to the fundraising and championing efforts of Glenn and Jane Crosby. The Crosbys directed several teacher professional development programs in the Northwest, throughout the U.S., and in Chile.
The ACS Division of Chemical Education has stepped forward to establish an endowment that will support awards for high school science teachers in every Region of the ACS. By establishing an effort to solicit funds for the Division of Chemical Education Teaching Excellence Endowment, the Division is making a firm financial commitment to high school science teaching, ACS Regions, and the profession of chemistry.
This award is to recognize the efforts of extraordinary high school teachers. The awardee will be chosen based on the quality of their teaching as evidenced by incorporation of unusually effective teaching methods, ability to challenge and inspire students, willingness to keep up to date in chemistry, and extracurricular work in chemistry or a chemical science.
Award
The award will be presented at the 2026 ACS Northwest Regional Meeting (NORM 2026), which will be held at the Boise Centre East in Boise, ID on June 28-July 1, 2026.
